The Event
The Blue Eagle 5k is a yearly 5k Run/Walk sponsered by the Nazareth Track & Cross Country Booster Club. This year's race takes place on August 4, 2012 at 9:00am at Lower Nazareth Elementary School.

In Memory of Chief Bruce Ruch
Bruce grew up in Lehighton and came to live in Nazareth in 1979. He joined the Nazareth Police Department in 1979, and eventually became Police Chief in 1995. A position he held for 11 years.
He was active with the Northampton Country Drug Task Force, Nazareth Fire Company, and Bushkill Township's baseball and soccer associations, along with many other organizations too numerous to mention. However, they all had one thing in common—all of them were for the benefit of our community especially its young people. Bruce spent much of his time in support of youth organizations including coaching multiple sports at various levels. Regardless of his health concerns he was a fixture at many sporting events. He thoroughly enjoyed cheering for all of our children and it gave him great pride to see them succeed. Being a student athlete himself he understood and admired the dedication required to achieve your best both on and off the field. His smile was infectious and he was always ready with a kind word. Bruce was a role model and proof that you really can make difference one person at a time.
Sadly, Bruce was taken from us too soon. Family and community were of utmost importance to Bruce and he would be honored that the race is in his memory.
